What up. Me and my son had an amazing time at the live show. He got picked to pick a segment. We came from Washington state. Originally from Fayetteville. This show has kept me connected to my blackness and my sanity for 10 years now. Y’all have taught me, inspired me, and keep me informed. I appreciate yall.
If your idea of a good podcast is:
•hosts that jump on sound bites for clicks and no context- this is not for you.
•hosts that do a podcast once every few months and leave you hanging- this is not for you.
• hosts that jump on a bandwagon when they are wrong sound like one of those lawsuit ads after taking some messed up medication. Call 1-800-my bad
BUT, if you enjoy well thought out, funny, and nuanced conversation THIS IS the podcast for you! Rod and Karen have arguably the best and most consistent podcast out there. Welcome home and tell a friend!
Greetings Dynamic Duo,
I was listening to your recent feedback show and when you mentioned the “boycott topic” I wanted to chime in about your comments. As a person that has been boycotting companies since Obama’s first run for office. I made conscientious choices about not supporting businesses that blatantly disenfranchised us like the Koch Bros. Over the years I realize it’s complicated because white men own major corporations. So, the collective boycott is mostly talk and little action behind it. We are a society of convenience and comprising to justify the purchase wins out. It goes beyond the big box stores. How many of the Internet activists are still patronizing the high end designer brands, high end car brands, NFL, etc? Like you said how do we know who’s shopping at the boycott stores while saying otherwise. We need to do what we can in our groups of like minded people and stop waiting for someone to lead us. Those days are gone.
Rod and Karen are hot because they help keep us sane in this alternate world we’re currently living in. I was introduced to this dynamic duo last year via The Karen Hunter Show on Foolishness Fridays and have been hooked since. I enjoy listening to their honest and clear cut opinions about current events on a weekly basis.
I finally have a break in classes, to catch up with my favorite folks, I’m so elated that some of my fav segments are still around and all of the new intros are bops!!! I’m so glad to be back and I have made time for y’all on my ride to and from work. 💜*Side note for the folks who gassed me up when I said it was a good idea to go back to school when I was 48.
Finally got a chance to update this review, one of the greatest podcasts of all time! Karen jokes and puns have been sooo good lately and Rod is full on middlenameist but we can’t always like everything. This podcast is gonna take us “through the fire” of 2025. Love yall!
Listening to The Black Guy Who Tips is like hanging out with your funniest, smartest friends who always know what’s happening in the states. Rod and Karen deliver razor-sharp commentary with a side of humor that will have you laughing one minute and nodding in agreement the next. Their segments are pure gold—whether it’s breaking down political news, roasting absurd headlines, or detailing their pure love for sugar grits and Arby’s. They’ll keep you informed, entertained, and no one does show recaps better. If you’re not tuning in, you’re seriously tipping the scales toward missing out!

My brother told me about this years ago. I finally started listening about 6 months ago, and I was hooked from episode one (technically, episode 2914). I immediately started going back day by day to listen to the previous days episode. Already back to summer of 2023. Keep doing BIGG things!
I have been an avid podcast listener for several years; however, since COVID and increasing my workload, I listened to podcast less and less. TBGWTs was always on my subscribed list, yet until now, I hadn’t regularly listened. Now coming back into podcasts, I can’t believe what I’ve been missing! A belated congrats on breaking 3000 episodes and thank you for continuing the strong work!…There yah go - a 5 star review lol.
I’ve been listening to this podcast for years and it is such a great, levelheaded, timely podcast. It is extremely informative about current pop culture without the shock troupes or unnecessary and overblown men/women wars or black infighting that is talked about ad nauseam and not truly a representation of what is happening in real life. Give it a listen. You’ll love it.
I love you guys! Your podcast is always fun, entertaining and relaxing! I often listen to it before I go to bed. I also watch on youtube. Thanks for being awesome!
It is time for the New new. Rod ‘n Karen are my staple and are always worth a listen. I continue to find joy and community after being a listener for 10 years.❤️
5 Stars! Thanks to Rod and Karen for helping me make it through yet another election cycle. I appreciate the humor, consistency and integrity TBGWT always brings. This is the good stuff! I’m looking forward to another great year ( and a great live show ).
5 stars!!!! ( just like me review last year).
Stop depriving yourself of joy and give this podcast a listen! I just returned to the pod after a little hiatus, desperately seeking a break from empty political analysis after an upsetting election. Rod and Karen did not disappoint! They are - and have been - reliably insightful, open-minded, and sincere. But even if the topic is serious, Rod and Karen know full well the importance of levity and laughter: their healthy dose of humor has my wife asking me what I’m listening to that’s got me laughing so hard! I’m ever grateful to them for delivering on the promise of an authentic, grounded, engaging discussion of US culture & society today. Thank you, Rod and Karen!
Refreshing my review for the new year! Happy 2025, Rod and Karen!
I appreciate you!
The Black Guy Who Tips is still one of my top top faves after all these years.
Hilarious and brilliant ~ husband and wife duo Rod and Karen bring so much in each episode.
Lots of humor ~ intelligent/nuanced political
Heyyyy yall. Long time listener, repeat rater. I had to come put my 5 on these tithes. You all are the best in the game and the longevity, quality of the show and authenticity shows in every single episode. If yall don’t have me thinking you have me laughing and I appreciate you for both. Cheers to a new year of Rod & Karen shenanigans
This podcast is a cornucopia of joy, content, and Black cultural history - this podcast is a wonderful archive of Black pop culture. Do yourself a favor and listen!!
Love y’all show still five stars. Plus election night was like waiting for a std test and we all found out we caught The Trump AGAIN… and it burns!!!! Anyway love you guys
I had to make sure I came and left a 5 star review because I’m not a hater. I love the show and it’s part of my nightly ritual after work. It’s to the point where I’m disappointed that I have to find another pod when there isn’t a new episode 😂. Usually my substitute is Rain on Your Parade (shoutout to JL and Mike). Looking forward to seeing you two at the live pod here in Charlotte. I might have to cop some VIP tickets! Keep up the good work ✊🏾
Rod and Karen are the absolute realest in the game. A warm, insightful, kind, and thoughtful hug amid the current world state.
Okay. So, I am also here to confess my undying love for Rod. You my boo in my head, and if you ever need some he’s… okay. I am sorry. I love you all deeply.
Re-upping this review, which cut off oddly when I did it months ago. The show is great, they have amazing guests, funny segments, thoughtful and empathetic discussions, and Rod is the best interviewer in the podcast game.
Truly one of my favorite podcasts. Been listening for years and it’s still just as enjoyable to listen to as it was the first day I discovered it. Rod and Karen are not only kind, smart and thoughtful on a range of topics, they make you feel good to apart of a community of decent folks just trying to do their best at getting thru life. This is an essential podcast for anyone looking for joy in their lives.
Whether it’s the good natured ribbing about the drug front that is Arby’s or the segment intro songs that slap, you always feel good after listening to an episode. Rod and Kare, congratulations on the 3000 episode mark you just crossed!!! Sending you lots of love and good vibes for the next 3000!🙏🏾😎
This show is pure gold.
Don’t know what’s going on with politics? Rod and Karen will tell you.
Have no clue who the latest celebrities are? That’s ok, because neither does Karen, and Rod will explain it to all of us (seriously thank you! I never know who any of those people are).
Don’t know what the whites are up to? They got you.
Want to test your knowledge of racial: tendencies, names, actions, locations? How about a friendly game of Guess the Race?
Not sure what book to read, show to watch, cozy game to play? Rod and Karen have some suggestions for you.
This show has everything you didn’t know you need. It’s like listening to that friend or family members that actually stays up on current topics and wants to make sure you do too. No hot-takes, just well thought out opinions, observations, predictions and facts. Open your third eye because Rod and Karen are hot and everyone’s favorite play cousins.
I love this show so much for y’all’s insight and level-headed-ness about things going on in the world.
Your breakdown of VP Harris media blitz is spot on. I agree with everything you said and I also think the brilliance of it is it forces Trump, in his declining state, to be in front of cameras and microphones more frequently, hopefully exposing him further to people who claim to still be on the fence.
Don't know how I found y'all, but I'm glad I did. I love all of your segments - my favorite segments are the show recaps, political opinions and f'cking with blk people (long barbershop version intro). I love Karen's passion when she gives a "Ja-carys" Thank you Rod and Karen for being you and sharing it with us. Signed Future premium member

I have a sprained finger and typing this is difficult but I had to give y’all 5 stars for the Bear segment alone —ep 2991. The way I laughed through this entire thing. I love a good pun and y’all did y’all thing firing bear puns back & forth. Please make sure you upload that clip to TikTok or YouTube shorts. It’s good silly fun.
Love y’all,
Dai
