i love the show and the people! it has convinced me to buy superlative games that i wouldn't have never heard of.
the talk of farmville and simple iphone/ipad apps really makes me cringe though
I've been a long time listener of Control Point and I was sad of the transition to NoG. Much to my surprise, NoG is just as good as, if not better, than CP. (Spencer helps) These guys have a great chemistry going with them which is what makes NoG so great. Glad the hiatus is finally over. Don't give up on NoG!
Yes I have listened to this podcast before and I find that the 4 hosts have found the perfect balance between seriously funny, and game related
Content, creating a podcast that keeps you listening without feeling bored. Note that this podcast is not for the serious and in depth gamer but for the more mature, relaxed gamer. Br3nt, 3ric, w3s, and spinker williums are probably the best group of people you will ever have the pleasure of listening to, and still live. Cast on.
I'm guessing the reason you guys haven't made any new episodes is because you ran out of ideas. Instead of making episodes on concept of gaming make episodes on individual games you've played from original nintendo up to the current day systems like xbox 360 and wii. If you do this I'm sure everyone will be happy with results. I'd personally love to hear you guys talk about your old gaming experiences and what you think of the games you used to play.
NoG is epic. I miss the TF2 podcast, "CP" but this one is still awesome and relaxing. I wish they updated as often as the shaft though... Currently the shaft had 3 episodes released while NoG has yet to air a show in november. I wish the cast focused more on the general podcast then the other two specific ones.
After finishing episode 100 of CP, I have immeidatly looked this show up and currently have it playing as I write this. I'll be sure to catch up fast... Maybe. Good luck and my steam name will always be [CP]Creation62. Written October 18th. Be sure to make fun of me on the podcast!!!
I am writing this review after I heard what you guys said in episode 20, been wanting to write it earlier anyways.
I have been listening to you guys since Control Point 79, my friend intro-ed you guys since I was really in to Team Fortress 2 at that time. Control Point was like my weekly newspaper about the game, you guys explained about strategies and stuff, updated us on updates and loads of stuff that were irrelevant, but that only made you guys more awesome. I tried to listen to the whole podcast but I yet to do that, only got myself to listen till episode 20++?
Though Nation of Gamers was the one that appealed the most to me, as a gamer. I like how the way you guys talk, it actually keeps me company sometimes when I'm alone in a place with my iPod, I will just turn on the podcasts and listen to you guys talk.
Well, that's all for now, ending this review/post here. Hope you guys could make this podcast last as long as Control Point, or maybe you should make it longer. :D
Totallagness
A great listen. I listen to them on long car rides. It's a great way to pass the time, listening to Brent, Eric, Wes and spencer. All of the hosts have differing veiwpoints, attitudes during the show, likes, and dislikes. From Brent's love of multiplayer to Spencers disagree with Wes, to Eric and Ninja Blade. Great show, great listen, keep it up!
Honestly, I was disappointed when CP ended. I loved that show and all the shenanigans in it. Then NoG started up and I was glad to start listening to my 4 favorite podcasters!I do find myself listening to these episodes while doing homework or just browsing the web, and I can honestly say they are long. Sometimes I just tune them out completely, but I would want to listen to them, so I go back and listen to these podcasts again. That's how mch I like you guys! I do agree with the guy that gave you a 1 star though, he does point out that you guys sometimes have no experience with some games, but you know what, we all hear about awesome games and what not, and it's awesome that you just mention them and give your opinions or whatever.
And the one thing I love about this podcast, the shenanigans are still there. :D
This is a really cool podcast. Ive heard of many podcasts that talk about certain games, but never one about gaming in and of itself. I really do like the angle it takes. It also is good because it has the same hilarity of control point, so definatley keep pumping em out.
First, technically and audio quality wise these guys take the cake. If this is any indication of DWP's proficiency, then I hope the NOG team is getting a kickback because they're making DWP look pretty dang good. Second, no it's not Control Point but I thinks that is just because of my bias due to love of TF2. If there were one piece of constructive criticism it would be the lack of any Wii discussion. Knock it all you want for serious gamers but as an adult with four kids - two of which will kick your behind in ANY first person shooter - I own all the consoles and there are some decent Wii games in the family-oriented genre.
Highly recommended. Spencer needs to laugh once in a while.
This amazing podcast is all about gaming! With a huge community backing them up, the hosts find the best topics each week with comments from the community. Check it out if you are into gaming!
The topics are great and the recording quality is fantastic, these guys have been podcasting for years with radio quality gear. I never loose interest when I'm listening to another great episode of the EGG NoG. Always try to put on my two cents. Don't stop. Subscribe to the Dead Workers and all of there awesome podcasts such as Trailer Trash Talk, Tech Chatter, KritzKast, Ash Cast, Friendly Fire, The Daily Gamer, Control Point, WARP, World of WOW, Movie Chatter, Galaxy News Radio, and of course NoG.
I started listening to DWP during WARPed and loved the commentary and podcaster's banter. When that dropped I listened to CP, even though I rarely play TF2 anymore. Just wanted to support the podcasters and listen in the fun. I listened to *most* of the first five NOG podcasts and I have to say... it ain't working for me anymore. I say most because unlike WARPed and CP, I can not listen to a full episode of NOG.
If you're going to do a podcast about any and all games, first off you need to actually play the games (and genres) your talking about. I barely have enough time to play through the games in my library, yet listening to the podcast I can tell there are some serious holes in your experience. I mean you just got around to fl0w? And handedly dismissing STO without playing it? How about not remembering the name of that "Sony FPS MMO"... dude... really? You guys don't know about Planetside?
I think DWP does a good job when focused on podcasting about games they actually play... but you guys are too dismissive of too many games to try to put together a universal game podcast. Stick to the basics that work, or start playing the games if you're going to provide commentary. I do enjoy the personalities and banter but you seriously lost me with NOG.
As a long time CP listener I was wary of a podcast where the guys didn't have a focal point like tf2(insert every other game specfic DP show). I am glad to report that NoG is just as awesome and the guys can talk about everything they are interested in without being ragged on by the other hosts or fans. Looking back, I think the Age of Conan fiasco/meme foreshadowed NoG.
I listened to episisode 100. Loved it. Especially "I'm on a Hawk!" I've listened to your podcast since you stopped doing WARP. I don't even play TF2, but enjoyed the comraderie between you guys and your community. I was worried when you didn't post any more Control Point, but I listened to episode 100 a few times, and what I thought at first was just part of a story, I found to be true. New Podcast! Keep being awesome.
I'm making this review just because the guys on the show told me to and because it deserves 5 stars. Keep making more shows because I will listen to them on my iPhone. I was not sure about listening to a podcast for an hour, but I did!
The hosts are great, as they were in CP. Earlicuous sound quality, too. I liked the balance how they covered a bit of iPhone games and consoles, but mostly focused on PC games. It's hard to say at this point, with only 2 episodes, but the show is top-notch so far. Let's see if they can keep up that positive momentum from CP as they drift out into the wide open plains of the greater gaming universe. Also, I hope that they will still discuss TF2 maps an updates from time to time. Also, bring back the Johnny's state of the servers theme song :D
Nation of Gamers is a podcast that was a half sequel to the DWP podcast Control Point
Control Point focused on the game Team Fortress 2, When the hosts decided on their 100th episode that they needed to widen their horizons they decided to create NoG (Nation of Gamers). Nation of Gamers is a podcast mostly about gaming. Starting with their first introduction episode they introduced what they kind of subjects they would be discussing
Episode 2: What is a gamer anyway?
The big question of this episode was what is a gamer, all 4 hosts had different opinions but they all focused around playing lots of games, playing games for a long time, and basically NOT playing farmville

Crushed at the end of the CP, but after listening to the first episode of NoG, I feel it's gonna be greater then sliced bread!
P.S. You guys gotta keep the state of the server tune, maybe put it at the end!
I started listening to Control Point when they were on episode 99. It was a bummer when i learned that episode 100 would be their last. However, after listening to the first episode of Nation of Gamers, I have utmost belief that this podcast will be just as good, or even better! I've already sent in a response to next week's topic, "what is a gamer?" This podcast is perfect for anyone who wants a gaming podcast that doesn't just broadcast gaming news. I just hope they still talk a little bit about TF2....
I was bummed after the end of CP. I've been listening since episode 1 and CP was a pretty big part of my life for the past 2 years. I thought NoG would disappoint but boy was I wrong. The first episode put forth an objective that was focused and brilliant, not to mention the hilarity of the 4 hosts! NoG will be invading my iPhone for a while now!
OMG, this is awsome I finally feel like a part of your community now cuz I'm listening from the very begining instead of a year late like I wuz with CP.
I haven't even listened to this episode yet but yes! Brent, Eric, Spencer, and Wes are back! A highly anticipated return from CP episode 100! Keep up the great work guys!
they should relese a demoman update epsiode as well as an engie update epsiode before killing control point completly but rip control point
P.S. you couldive just have said thet they were killing control point for good and not sneaking it in at the end of ep 100 like they did what a sucker punch :/ honestly
I almost cried when control point ended. But it's not so bad!
It's great to still be able to hear Brent, Wes, Spencer and Eric. They're some of the most entertaining guys I've ever heard, and I've been listening to them for so long that they feel like old friends to me.
But if this doesn't live up to control point, I'm still going to kill them.
The first episode was great, and I'm sure the next one will be even better. I wonder if they'll talk about TF2 ever in this new podcast (If they do I'm going to laugh my head off).
"They never recorded another show. The Control Point podcast died that day, but it will always live on in our hearts."
That line hit me like a bucket of bricks. I couldn't believe what I had just heard, but when they said they would "go on to do a new show called Nation of Gamers...", my happiness returned. Even though I post this only at the first episode, I have a feeling this podcast is going to be big. Keep producing great podcasts Dead Workers.
I LOVED THE CONTROL POINT PODCAST! I was deeply moved and shocked that at the end of episode 100, when they told us they were ending the control point podcast. I like your podcasts in general because you guys combine comedy, seriousness when needed, and make the podcast not boring at all like a monotone voices. Most podcasts I know, don't take their media serious or give a great deal of care but I know you guys are excellent and should keep up the good work. Only last wish I give you is keep the Lowping servers running!
I'm pleased to be the first to review NoG on itunes.
I hope this all goes well, as this is basically what the CP hosts were doing towards the later years of CP.
Keep up the good job, mates.
