You can tell these dudes really dig comics and the culture it breeds. Encyclopedias? No. But they are knowledgeable about what they read and minor mistakes can be forgiven easily. They enjoy each others company and it makes you feel like you're in the room with them. Rob's staunchness to characters and supporting story lines. Ross' unwavering support of aquatic madmen and animal companions. Mike's devil-may-care book synopsis and provocation of lighthearted conversation. Curtis' quasi-virtuous attempt to make the past relevant, indy incite and creator oriented. Steve's fanatical tirades about time and space that force you to take stock of the here and now, which ultimately make sense in the end...and Batman. A solid group with occasional guest speakers.
Definitely not a cast of robots and they seem to value each others opinions and those of the listeners without a browbeating to make you like a book. It's like having a comic book shop conversation anywhere you want it. A little more diversity in book selection and this would be a 6 star podcast. Happy listening.
For the duration of 5-6 months (excluding my short hiatus) I have been going to the Top Five Comic shop and listening to Steve and his brother fill me in on the latest news in the comic world, suggest comics, and share their passion with me and my sister. Now with the show i can take the shop on the go and listen!
