The Magic Word Podcast

Reviews For The Magic Word Podcast

The Magic Word podcast with Scott Wells has over 800 episodes. Each are about 1 hour in length and feature conversations with magicians - many are names you know or have heard of. New episodes are available weekly. Scott also visits several conventions throughout the year, and brings along his mic. It’s almost like going along for the ride! Highly recommended.
I just finished listening to Episode 750 (congratulations on the milestone) and must say each episode has many gems to be mined. Scott is a great host who doesn’t make the show about himself and asks great thought-provoking questions to the guests to provide great advice for us mere mortals. Looking forward to the next 750.
Each episode I listen to, I have preconceived notions of the direction this interview will take. And time after time — I’m wrong. Scott has immersed himself in magic and magicians his entire life; when he talks with someone he knows, the hour-long conversations go to levels I never knew. If he’s with someone he doesn’t particularly know, he finds a common bond or link, and then the sharing begins. Always intriguing and frequently enlightening, Scott’s talks seem like chats among friends. Five stars of enjoyable!
I just downloaded a few episodes of The Magic Word podcast and I’m totally hooked! Not only do you hear the latest news from around the world, you hear from todays top performers! Scott does a great job with his labor of love … and it does show. When he’s at a convention … you feel like you’re there with him! I just can’t get enough of this podcast … I look forward to each new episode! If you love magic … you’ll love The Magic Word podcast. Highly recommended!
Scott has great conversations with his MANY friends in the Magic world. If you just want to listen to interviews, or learn tricks, there are plenty of other podcasts. If you want to hear casual conversations and get to know the human side of performers - famous and new to you, there is no better podcast than “The Magic Word”, and no better host than Scott Wells!
If your a fan of magic please add this podcast to your library you won’t be disappointed.
I have listened to this podcast for some time and have always enjoyed it. This past weekend, I had an opportunity to meet the creator in person at an auction. Class act guy, and super funny!
I love your interviews! It’s great because of your amazing years in magic. Met you at the last two Magifests. Keep on Poding!
I rarely get free time to listen undisturbed to The Magic Word Podcast but today, I did and... WOW! The interview with John Pullum was full of interesting stories, helpful knowledge and advice and kept my attention during the entire 70 minutes. I plan on listening on my drive back home tomorrow to more. Thank you Scott for making this available to us! Doug Anderson ~ Oklahoma
If you have an interest in magic and its many dimensions - tricks, magicians, history, conventions, organizations, business, performance, creativity, etc., Scott Wells and The Magic Word podcast has it covered. You will love the casual, friendly conversations Scott has with his guests, all the while learning, reminiscing, and growing in your love for the art of all things magic. Definitely a must listen!
Scott Wells thinks the podcast is all about him. He interrupts his guests and interjects his own self promotion. If you want to learn from his guests seek out other podcasts.
Scott really knows how to interview. He has interesting people with a lot of fun facts and insights into their performances and life. This is a podcast that is enjoyable to listen to. I feel you’ll get a lot out of it just by relaxing with an hour or so with the magic word podcast.
Scott has amazing guests and some good conversations with them. But as he admits in last episode (#614 at time of this review) he engages in conversations with old friends and the listeners are treated like flies on the wall. Which is fine if that’s what you want and you want to put up with discussions about their mutual friends you may never have heard of (and no context provided) or inside jokes. Scott also sometimes talks over his guests or asks questions that take them off topic or down a rabbit hole. There are wonderful tidbits in some episodes about tricks, showmanship, innovation, etc. you just have to wait to get to it. For listening entertainment I’d rate it a 4. For magic context I rate on the low end. So average out to a 3.
These guys are fun, enthusiastic and laid back. But more importantly, they are always educational and entertaining. The stories are priceless
I look forward each week to another captivating and intriguing episode led by Scott Wells. Each Magician shares their interesting stories and experiences with Scott expertly asking pertinent questions. I never know what to expect, but each week I learn new facts about our wonderful world of Magic and our fabulous Magician friends. I even meet new Magicians and learn about state of the art techniques. Being a new subscriber, it is fun to go to previous episodes to see who and what I have missed. Thank you Scott for making this happen…I look forward to every Thursday morning….Today is Saturday…only 5 more days until the next episode.
I listen every week. Scott has great guests and interesting conversations. Highly recommended.
Scott Well does a great job interviewing Magicians of all kinds plus convention updates and information. The next best thing if you can be there in person, Scott has you covered!
Thank you to Magic Word Podcast. This is a wonderful resource and a frequent companion for this sibling in the magicial arts. Congratulations on 600 episodes! Really, truly amazing work, Scott!
Enjoy magic? Want to be inspired? This is the podcast for you! Every episode is professionally put together podcast. The interview and news are always informative. Thank you for your hard work!
Always interesting guests and an excellent interview by a “general practitioner” magician. I’m an amateur magician, and I have learned so much about many facets of the industry. I never miss a cast or his video stream of Martinis and Magic during the pandemic. My favorite of five magic podcasts I listen to weekly.
Scott has been doing these podcasts for years and they never disappoint. I’ve never seen him at a magic convention when he doesn’t have some big name magician in a corner with a mic in his face. Same for airports, hotels, bars, etc. Scott works hard at getting interviews fir us and he always delivers.
I came to magic as a kid when my father would take me to Jack’s Joke Shop in Boston ti buy a magic trick and practice it with him and then perform to the family and friend’s. Those were great memories. Now 60 years later with grandkids, I found my way back to doing close up magic for their enjoyment. As I searched the internet for tricks, techniques and history, I came across Scott’s podcast, listened and was immediately hooked! I now look forward to his podcasts and enjoy them during my morning jogs. They are fun, informative and made even better with his warm interview style. It is worth the listen!
I love the connection that Scott makes with his guess and listeners. Living in small towns most of my life my only connection to magic was through books, tapes, and occasional visits to out of town magic clubs and conventions. During his weekly podcast I just imagine that they are friends in my living room. Thanks Scott.
Scott does a great job with the Magic Word Podcast. Keeps new content coming from interesting guests. They are the right length and well worth the time!
I have not listened to very many of Scott’s podcast yet, but the ones I have listened to were very enjoyable and informative.
Scott Wells' "The Magic Word Podcast" povides both informative stories from his many guests as well as being very entertaining. I look forward to Thursdays when the podcast comes out!
Love your podcast Scott. You always make the listener feel like we are sitting across the table from you while you take us on an informative adventure of Magic, Mystery and History
Best podcast there is Scott is the ultimate professional If u love magic. Look no further Eric citron
Not once in my life had I ever spent money on cards, that changed just 3 days ago. Within the first hour of clumsily handling the deck I began thinking , I can’t do this, I can’t shuffle I can’t hold the deck, my hands are too small, I don’t have the dexterity PLUS I’m too old. I can usually always count on podcasts to steer me right and this one sure did the trick. 5 stars and subscribed. Very exciting. Oh, and three days in, less and less cards flying all over the place when shuffling. Progress.
Always insightful/informative interviews hosted by a hell of a nice guy.
Scott Wells' podcast The Magic Word is fantastic. Not only are the interviews interesting, but they are also saving part of Magic's history for the future. Thanks so much Scott. Frank Lehmann
Scott Wells always has many well respected guests/Magicians/Mentalists in the Magic community and is a great interviewer.
I’ve been listening to Scott for long time and the podcast is always informative and entertaining. And recently proud to say I’m a patron of the podcast. From reviews to historical lessons to a good chuckle, it’s all here.
So many of these podcasts died early deaths many years ago. Scott just keeps going. He cares about the quality and guests he interviews. Once in a while he gets a little “inside” with people he knows well and you feel like an intruder, but not too often. Not terribly woke and that is a rare blessing.
When I hear those words I know I’m belting in for a great show. Scott always has great guests, he asks interesting and thoughtful questions, and provides useful product reviews. I love this show.
I look forward to each episode of Scott Wells podcast, he is kind, knowledgeable and committed to bring the best of magic history, techniques, experience to all of us listeners. I am a huge fan!
I have been listening to Scott's Magic Word Podcast for a little over a year. Every episode I have listened to has been informative and entertaining. I look forward to Thursday for each new podcast and I visit the website often to download the podcasts I have missed. Keep up the great work.
Unlike similar podcasts, Scott Wells keeps his interviews free of foul language. I learn a lot from the content he produces. Highly recommended for all magicians.
Forget all of you smug, know-it-all hosts who have some “better” angle or agenda in magic. Scott’s love for the art and the guests he features is always evident in each program. His genuine interest in them as people and as performers is shown in the questions he asks, the introductions he gives, and the general respect and kindness he shows towards them overall. The show is about the GUESTS and not about HIM. I’ve only met Scott in person once, but I can say he was just as much of a kind gentleman then as he comes across in his podcasts. So he sometimes stumbles over his words and says corny things like “Scotty, out!” Big deal! Give me a kind host who I can sit down with and have a martini, cigar and a pleasant conversation any day over someone who takes themselves so seriously or thinks they’re “better” or who wants to gloat about where they’re performing or appearing next or gripe about the state of affairs in magic. I’m a long-time listener and will continue to be as long as he keeps up the good work! Thanks, Scott, for all you do! —Long-Time Listener, OUT!
Have a listen, I think you'll love it.
As a full time entertainer, grinding away in restaurants (or 'the trenches' as we affectionately call it), The Magic Word podcast has been immeasurably educational and entertaining. It's the best!
A great way to stay in the l*** in the magic profession, though probably not of interest to beginners or the general public. Good mix of interviews, event reports, and product/publication reviews.
I love the way Scotty takes each interview "to the next level" by probing each issue a little deeper to get to the real performance pay dirt. The quality of the interviewees and the depth of the questions makes this podcast a must-listen.
This is a fantastic podcast that covers all kinds of magic information. From the breaking news (I heard about the sale of Genii magizine here first!) to great interviews and perspectives, Scott covers it all. The interviews are great and they cover all kinds of aspects of magic for both the hobbyist and professional performer. Don't miss anything magic, subscribe now.
