This is for sure one of the greatest and most comprehensive fancasts for anything out there. Most fan podcasts are just scant bits of news and 45 minutes of banter. This isn't bad, but The Signal out does it a hundred fold. Shows incluide news, essays, stories from fans, in-universe segments, highlights of fandom activities, and much more. Every episode is interesting and wonderful. As with everything, the Browncoat community takes normal and makes it shiney. Keep flying, and never ever stop The Signal.
Yes, I said it. This is the best. All the people involved seem to work for the common goal of bringing an informative and entertaining podcast to the listners. From the fan fiction, updates on Browncoats Redemption and other things Whedon this is the podcast to listen to. Now if only they would put the "Music from the Verse" episode back on Itunes since mine somewhow got deleted from my hard drive.

This is THE Firefly podcast! This is the oldest and, imho, the best Firefly/Serenity podcast out there. If you've already seen Firefly, and the movie Serenity, listen to the most recent episode and then go back to the beginning. There's too much shiny to be missed! If you're new to the 'Verse, definitely go back to the beginning and share our excitement in the build-up to Serenity!

Aside from all the browncoaty goodness you've read about in the other reviews, you also get features of other spectacular shows you may not know about. Because of this podcast, I got the Canadian comedy show, "Corner Gas" which is hilarious and am currently hunting down a British short series called "Lost in Austen." I love this podcast and ...I'll be with it til the day I die...just like Firefly.
What a great podcast on an outstanding science fiction TV series and movie. The podcast has high quality production values, a great voice crew, and a variety of segments, something for everyone. My friend loaned me the series and movie. I love the writing, character development, music, action and the entire cast! It's a shame that the series was cancelled. I am glad to see there is the videos for the ipod and podcasts to listen too.
The Signal was the first firefly podcast out there and is still one of the best. After five seasons I am still downloading and listening. Amazing they have continued to find fresh things to present for a show long, long, sadly, long gone.
I have to quote someone and say "AWESOME". The signal is the best source of firefly/serenity news available. Funny, informative and Shiny! Anyone who likes Firefly needs, NEEDS to listen to this podcast. The crew are just the best at keeping the verse alive. Fans will get their fill of music, fan fiction, comedy, audio dramas, product information and the latest information on the world wide Cant Stop The Serenity charity events. CANT stop the SIGNAL!
I love this show. This podcast makes the absence of any new content in the 'verse, kind of... okay. While I would love to see more Firefly and more movies, this podcast will do for now. The Signal reminds me of The Nothing Files podcast as they talk about Whedon and Firefly quite a bit. Except they cover movies, comics, and video games as well. With both The Nothing Files and The Signal, our 'verse will live on.
This is not only the best podcast out there but its also helping us fight for the cause. Firefly and Serenity are the best there is and we MUST have more. If you like nice people who genuily care about something and have fun with it you will love this. We aim to misbehave and we will get our Big Damn Trilogy
I LOVE the signal!!! i have been listening to it for a year now and i enjoy it so much.. from the different recipes to the guest speakers who come on the show i love everything about it.. The hosts are really really good and are very easy to understand when they talk i would have to call the signal my favorite podcast to date!!!! Keep up the great work signal crew!!! keep on flying!!! and remember... YOU CAN"T STOP THE SIGNAL!!!!!
I got depressed once I got subliminally converted and found out the show was canceled. The Signal relit the passion I caught for Firefly into an eternal flame. If you're a fan of the series and don't have this on your podcast fetcher, you must be 'liance or insane.
Out of all of my podcasts, this is the one I look forward to the most. For fans of Firefly and Serenity who like to revisit the 'verse from time to time, I would strongly suggest adding this podcast to your list. They really do a great job of mixing entertainment and information while expanding your knowledge of all things Firefly/Serenity and beyond.
This is a top notch podcast. Think of it as a magazine style podcast, with segments about anything and everything that relates to Joss Whedon's Serenity and Firefly.
Having been a big damn fan of the "Verse for some time now, it is good to see that the spirit of Joss still breathes free.
I enjoy this podcast very much and look forward to every new episode.

If you know what a browncoat is, this is the podcast for you. With great regular features and crazy specials, it is enough to make the alliance jealous.
You can't stop the signal. A great podcast, very well done. I have been listening to it for over a year now and every season they find new and interesting content to keep us entertained while we wait for the next movie.
I've been listening to this podcast since Summer 2005. It is full of great Firefly/Serenity, fan info and entertaining features. You don't need to hear it from the beginning to appreciate it. Whether you're a Firefly fan or not, you will be after listening here.
And you're asking why I can say that you haven't seen Firefly and Serenity? Because if you had you'd have already downloaded this and skipped the reviews because you're going through Firefly/Serenity withdraw and need anything to help you're addiction.

The content varoes widely in quality. The love for the subject matter expressed by those involved in the podcast feels very genuine and heartfelt.
Unfortunately, the hosts have little spark or charm in their delivery. Although friendly, their is no momentum or rhythm in the conversation.
An affectionate, yet boring cast.
Altogether a good podcast with a likeable team, but is very fanboyish. Has good interviews with people you know and introduces you to people to know. Includes tips on gaming, begging for a Serenity Sequel, and essays on all things Firefly related. Sometimes, the self-congratulatory interviews with fan-developed content providers gets to be a little old as the Signal tries to fill its allotted time. Could improve by tightening that up some. Check it out if you're a Browncoat, you won't be disappointed, but maybe not for people new to the 'Verse.
While The Signal was once a great message to the Firefly unaware and a godsend to those who love the series, it has become a self-interestested, self-righteous, and self-serving platform for these people to recieve attention and praise for producing and contributing nothing to Firefly/Sereity.
Listen to Season One instead.

A truely amazing podcast. Devoted cast reporting on the news about Firefly and Serenity. This podcast has really good information about the series we love. They're up to date on their information and the leave us really good show notes, so you don't have to relisten to a part of the show, write down the url, and type it back into the computer.
What sets this podcast apart from the rest is the wonderful amount of variety put into every show. This isn't your basic podcast with a bunch of nerds sitting around talking about thier favorite show. These people have dedicated themselves to providing a truly unique experience. The different interesting segments (eg: how to speak chineese, how to throw a shindig to name only two out of a million) bring entertainment to a new level and the email responses add a personal touch that brings you further into the program. It doesn't matter if you have or haven't seen Firefly or Serenity, this podcast is professionally put together and you will find something in it that appeals to you. If nothing else, download two or three episodes and see if you like it. I guarantee that you will! No power in the 'verse can stop this podcast!!
Being only recently turned on to the TV show firefly, I didn't know much about the "verse" or its inhabitants. I stumbled upon this podcast on while cruising itunes and thought, hmmmm. I was intrigued and so I subscribed to it and now all I can say is "wow". Not only was this my first experience with podcasts, but also with the firefly fandom, and I can honestly say that both are fantastic!! This cast has something for everyone. Firefly was an incredible show. Serenity an incredible movie. The people on this podcast frighten me. Unless you are completely obsessed with the show and have no life skip this and cue up a favorite Firefly episode instead.
