Reviews For LightSource Studio Photography Podcast

Great interviews, with interesting photographers please revive this podcast!!! 
Update: No new podcast in 8 months, so I have already found a better photography podcast..one with regular updates. Try TWIP instead. R.I.P. Lightsource. Excellent podcast. I expected boring interviews but man was i shocked when the interviews actuall kick *ss . Awesome questions and not a boring second plus I'm learning alot from famous pros. Props to these guys for a quality podcast.
I am a photographer who is learning about lights...this is the source! Great show, outstanding! Also, the intro on new equipment is very nice. It was the episode on pocket wizard that caused me to purchase the mini and flex.
Better than sliced toast with spicy mustard.
I love your interviews. Hearing these pro's talk about their beginnings and how they work plus showing their work and other info inspires me to get better. Thanks Guys. P.S. Wish you could do a podcast every week.
I like how they manage to get a very well rounded sessions with the guest photographers. Each podcast is jam-packed with information...that is useful! If I could ask for something it would be to inquire about the lenses they use for some specifics shots you guys analyse when looking at their websites. Each guest has a particular look and it would be interesting to know a glimpse of a particular lense they preffer and that can be look at their guests' website. Keep up the good work guys. The guests that come on the show are world-class. The information that is shared is actually useful. The discussions are insightful and focused on photography, not pet peeves. 60 minutes with these guys is time well spent. You'll definitely expand as a photographer through exposure to this podcast. Well done, guys, -James UPDATE: NOV 2009 Still the best photography podcast out there. Every guest is highly informative; and even the interview style is well done. The questions are thoughtful, and they draw out the kind of answers that aren't a waste of time. No question: 5/5 stars!
Wow! 4 years in the making and I just found it today. Great tips to inspire the photographer within you. Thanks for doing this and see you at your 10th.
I love their podcast, but they only put out one a month. It's never enough for a heavy diet of studio lighting information. Still, subscribe and listen when it comes out. A real treat.
The hosts of LightSource Sutdio Photography do a great job in picking interesting guests, asking good question, keeping the show moving, and mentioning new products. Well worth the time to listen to each new episode. A thank you to the hosts as well!
I love this podcast! At first I just kind of liked it but it seems the more I listen the more I get out of it. I find myself replaying older episodes over and over again. The questions that they ask the guests are really good questions and extremely informative. They don't seem to be asking questions just to fill up time. I get a sense that they are really try to ask questions that we (the listeners) actually want to know about. Thank you for all your work...I just wish that it was every single day. I think I would make my drive into work even better. :)
Love the show you guys! My only complaint is that the shows aren't often enough. I downloaded all of the podcasts and i have been listening to them every day for about two weeks. It's been very helpful Bill and Ed! Thank for all the hard work.
I really look forward to this every-time a new show post. These guys have figured out what photographers what to listen to. INTERVIEWS!
This is one of the best podcasts for photographers. The information contained in all the shows is dangerously valuable for the photographer looking to improve their images.

This is THE podcast to listen to for lighting tips and tricks.i love the interviews and the show is well produced. This will help take your photography to the next level!
These guys have the perfect blend of technical advice and insight into the creative process. And every show features a star of the photography world. Inspires me to get out and shoot everytime!
I discovered LightSource's podcast about a year ago. I've since listened to every episode in their library and eagerly look for new releases. This podcast has taught me a ton.
These guys were good out of the gate, and theirs has been my favorite podcast for a couple years now. I recently went back and listened to all the episodes they recorded prior to my subscribing. Those were great, too, and well worth listening to despite the news section no longer being current. Lightsource is of interest to any photographer who uses supplemental light, although it is geared toward studio lighting. They get interviews with a variety of personalities and prepare great questions. Most of their guests are photographers, but they also speak to vendors occasionally. They are able to find photographers who are talented and have good information to offer. Some of the best become recurring guests. I especially enjoyed the interviews with Paul Buff (maker of AlienBees and White Lightning). Did I mention they have good radio voices, too? That's just gravy since the content is solid, but you'd think Bill and Ed were abducted from NPR.

Thank you Guys you continue to go from strength to strength. You have been vital in my development. Highly recommended podcast.
Listening as a professional who's involved in the photography industry every day, this show is a refreshing and candid look at images, personalities and techniques that result. A fun tour of styles with conversation and insight from established to unknown photographers this is a satisfying listen to keep on my desktop.
REAL pro advice. The BEST interviews w pro photographers I've ever found Download them all, listen and learn.
I stumbled across this podcast a couple of months ago and have been in awe of the amount of information contained in each episode. These guys reach out to some of the leading photographers across the globe to learn how to light a wide variety of subjects. And the advice given by the pros is absolutely priceless! You will learn scads of information with each episode and you may even find yourself at Home Depot investigating some of the do-it-yourself lighting projects.
These guys do it right! Thanks so much for putting this sort of format on iTunes. Great interviews, great informatoin and great entertainment.
I just subscribed last week or so and listened to every podcast since episode 1. They have been very consistent with their show and I love the interviews with real people. I would hope they could interview other lighting companies other than Paul Buff. Not only do they interview real photographers, but also assistants, make-up artists, etc. I don't mind the length, but I'd wish they would use chapter markers and also embed some photos since I listen to them on my iPhone / iPod. Why spend two minutes trying to describe what something looks like when you can simply embed a photo? If they would do that, it would be a five star podcast. So far my top 3 podcasts are this show, TWIP, and Tips from the Top Floor.
The intro is short and sweet. The interviews are fantastic. If you are near you computer you can follow along with the podcast on the guests web site. The length is perfect for my work commute. Their studiolighting.net web site is also good and filled with useful and timely information.
I like the longer format. 1 hour... no problem. Go longer for all I care. At least with the interviews. Ed, I feel you are getting paid to plug software so stop. Other than that, they get to know the photographer and pump them for lots of information about the biz. I listen to more than 10 podcasts on photography but LightSource is my favorate. Sorry for being mean to you Ed. It's just the last few podcasts I listened to you went long on talking product.
Keep up the good work guys! Dig the variety of audio and the follow-alongs with the Internet. Thanks.
I learn about how to market my work...how to set up lights...I get to view and hear how pictures were created from the best photographers in the world! I have learned so much about being creative and getting affordable lighting solutions no matter where I am shooting. I have also learned about the best products and equipment to use and the latest out on the market...if you are even remotely curious about photography...you should be listening to this! Love you guys...thanks for all your efforts! – Dianna
I look forward to every episode. Listening to photographers' philosophy, personal approach on a project, workflow process, techniques, equipment etc... There have been a couple of videocasts you won't want to miss. I enjoy watching the process as well as the results and the videocast do just that.
You don't do enough episodes! I feel like a kid waiting for the best shows to come on tv friday nights when I was young. Thank you for imparting all of your knowledge. I truely look forward to seeing the new episodes pop up on my ipod. I just have to take a drive to listen to them.
Consistent high quality interviews with great guests! The hosts are very knowledgeable about their subject and not only give great tips themselves, but also ask their guests excellent questions that address specific points of studio photography. I especially liked the episode where the hosts and guest discussed images that had been posted online. In general, the podcast is informal and friendly, making it accessible to photographers of different skill levels.
GREAT PODCAST. THE INTERVIEWS ARE REALLY INFORMATIVE. i HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH JUST FROM LISTENING TO THESE INTERVIEWS. REALLY REALLY GREAT JOB GUYS. KEEP IT UP.
Well produced. Excellent interviews. Entertaining and informational. I listen during my commutes. Interviews with pro photogs from many different industries are very interesting, especially for anyone thinking about how to get a photo business started. Show started out centered on studio lighting and stays mostly centered on studio photography, but has expanded in scope somewhat. Some interviews with manufacturers and other non-photogs have been interesting as well, but less interesting in my opinion than the interviews with photogs. Great show. Keep 'em coming!
good stuff
I'll soon have the courage to try some of the equipment and techniques discussed on the podcast. Just discovered the podcast and am just about caught up. very informative show.
These two gents have given the photography community a real gift. The podcasts interviews are great, and provide insight into the world of the working photographer or industry insider. As you listen to the interviews with industry folks, which are amazing, just take a moment to realize how much you are learining while being entertained. The podcasts don't really get old, as for the most part industry news is only a few minutes. If you need a podcast that tells you which lens, or which button to push, this is not the one, but when you want to understand more about your hobby or profession, or passion, then this your podcast on photography to listen to.
LightSource Studio Lighting Podcast is my favorite! Bill and Ed are a great combo. The interviews with photographers are really interesting. I have listened to some several times. I can't wait or new ones.
Don't get me wrong...this is a good podcast but I like other Photography shows better. This has potential. Keep working on it.
This is a great podcast for those interested in finding that great light. Lots of great interviews from some of the great photographers that are out there. It's always nice to hear what the other photographers are doing and just to hear how down to Earth most of those photographers are. It's great that these people are willing to do interviews and share their views on their own photography. Hearing these "secrets" from the pros who are putting their own advice to work is so beneficial to us up-and-comers who want to get better. I definitely recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to listen to what the pros have done that made them successful and to those that want to learn more about lighting.
A great resource on lighting. Keep up to date on whats going on in the world of lighting and learn from the best that are in the field. Great interviews.
The interviews are great! and the humble yet gracious hosts keep you interested! Worth checking out...every one of them!
Love the interviews and tons of info on lighting.

Bill and Ed have a knack for pinning down and wrestling the industries top photographers for insiders tips and techniques that are both inspiring and entertaining. everything but the wrestling bit is true...these guys are far too soft spoken for that type of grit.
If you are a novice or a pro you will love this PodCast. I have been listening to this podcast since the beginning and it only gets better each and every time! Episode 23 is my favorite! Subscribe to LightSource now!
You guys put an awesome podcast. I love the interviews and information. Keep it up.
I was walking around the house today listening to your podcast. My wife gave me one of those looks then I had to explain what is a podcast. ugh. I drive my wife crazy taking all kinds of pictures but she enjoys the family photos so she puts up with this hobby. Anyway, you guys have a good format and chemistry. I like the mix and quality of guests that you have on regularly. Nice job, expecially considering a podcast is about as non-visual as you can get for a topic that is highly visual.
These guys do a great job of including something for the beginner, as well as those with more experience. I'm always rewinding, or just giving a second and third listen to a few of my favorite interviews (Paul Buff, Kirk Voclain, Michael Grecco, and David Hobby). Lightsource also does a good job of pointing you towards more resources on the web. I'm looking forward to more interviews, product reviews (eBay radio slaves please!!), and DIY projects (i.e.Home Depot ringflash).
Bill and Ed, I would be lost without you guys. Your show is the best informative show for lighting and interviews with photographers. I picked up a few great tips! Thanks.
