Really enjoying this podcast so far. I have the book Dial Down the Drama. My daughter is 15 and now I feel more confident I can do this. The only suggestion I have is the sound isn’t very good when she has on a guest. It’s sort of muffled and not very clear.
With her many many years of experience, Coleen really knows all the ins and outs of parenting teen girls. I was so at a loss, over and over again, and I’ve found new confidence now with my mothering. I’ve learned that I am not alone during these challenging years, to be kinder to myself, and that there are very specific things that i can do to make these years flow a bit more easily. Thank you Coleen for your amazing words of wisdom and support.
Such a find! As a mom to a teen daughter and two college aged sons I learn something that I can apply to our lives in every episode! Grateful for Colleen and her inspiring guests who share their wisdom and expertise.

Thank for your podcast. I enjoy listening to your topics. I get the wow moment at most episodes that I listen to. I recommend to many people that I meet.
Thank you Colleen for setting me up for success with my teen boys. I have listened to you for years and your advice is always timely and usually you can talk me off the parenting ledge!!!
Wow, just listened to this episode and immediately subscribed. Such a different type of guest but so darn useful for teens. Particular for us and those other families with shy kids in gifted/competitive environments.
and then I found Colleen and her podcast quite by accident. Although my kids are older, I have had my share of challenges with mental health issues with my children. Even though a podcast won’t solve everything, it was comforting to hear someone addressing things that I have gone through or that I am going through with my kids. So, far I watched one podcast with Chris Winter discussing sleep issues.
Colleen, host of the Power Your Parenting podcast, highlights all aspects of family, parenting and more in this can’t miss podcast! The host and expert guests offer insightful advice and information that is helpful to anyone that listens!
I’m a mom to 2 young teens and this podcast is THE BEST. Very practical, very relatable. I’ve been listening for almost 2 years and I always leave with something to think about, something to change, and in a better mood. I’m reminded I’m not the only one going through the trenches! It energizes me and calms me down at the same time. It helps me become focused. Thank you Colleen and all of your fantastic guests you have on your show!
I feel like I am in a room with her and just me
I am going through everything she talks about and I really have been emotionally broken. It’s good to know I’m not alone
I really like how Colleen gives real life examples of how to parent or what has happened in here life. I feel like I can connect with those things that she shares. I learn how to be a better parent to my teens and as I do so I grow as a person. Thank you!
Colleen really helped me turn around my relationship with my son. I took her class and have been listening to her podcasts for a year. Our house is getting calmer and happier every day.
This podcast is very helpful and reassuring. The episode “why it’s hard to say no to your teen” was sooooo spot on it was scary- this weekend my daughter had 2 of the exact events described in the first part happen, and I had been feeling frustrated and overwhelmed and unsure what to do. This made it very clear and reinforced what I had been thinking
I really like this information. Has helped a lot in understanding my teens point of view. Sometimes I find myself tuning out. It sounds monotone like she’s reading and that’s been hard for me sometimes to listen.
I am loving this podcast! Colleen packs every episode with tons of amazing content, guests, and interviews that will motivate, uplift and inspire you. I highly recommend!
Best podcast for moms focused on Teens but application applies to all ages! Colleen brings in guests that interesting and they offer soul fill advice! Take a break and listen to her and her peeps!
I love This podcast! When I have a bad day with my teens I listen to this podcast or search the topics to see what I can do to help them. This podcast has changed my life and improves my relationship with my teens.
Colleen has been a true calm in a sea of craziness and self doubt. Her podcasts help me see clearly the parenting issues I deal with and how to think and proceed in a different and better way than I have been. It is so strengthening to me to know I am not alone!
There are times when I feel like Colleen is speaking directly to me. Her podcasts have been insightful and so very applicable. I have gained useful tactics as well as explanations for why my teens act the way they do and why I respond to them the way I do. Keep them coming!
These podcasts are wonderful. It’s a must have for ALL parents! Very often parents are afraid to ask for help. A friend told me about these podcasts and I have been hooked ever since. Thank you Coleen for making this your life mission and teaching me how to be a better parent!
Listened to the 2 episode, very good things said to help me with my daughters. I feel supported and encouraged to keep doing what seems like an impossible task. My therapist says these type of things, it feels like free therapy. Very thankful to have found this podcast.
I am not a fan when Colleen interviews colleagues. It’s choppy and the conversation doesn’t flow. Today’s guest sounded like an uncertain teen herself.
I am a fan of when she gives a well though out episode. Some have been outstanding.
There for 3 stars overall...
My 17 year old daughters’ harsh words to me were breaking my heart. Where did I go wrong? I never talked to my mom the way she does to me. I prayed “Lord, I’m so discouraged. Please encourage me.” And for some reason (providential) that day I was drawn to open my podcasts and your new one, episode 46 Mom...It’s Not Personal popped up. I listened and was empowered and encouraged. The Lord answered my prayer through you. Thank you.
My first child is 15 yrs old now and we were having lots of fights and I wasn’t enjoying him who once was so sweet boy anymore. I love how this podcast gives practical tips with her personal experiences. It has helped me who was lost in parenting my teen to be in more control and I do enjoy my son much more now! Thank you so much!!
As a school counselor and mother of teens, I have found this series to be spot on! The insight and perspective of both the parent and teen are honest and real. Listening to these podcasts has been my best therapy sessions yet! Now I’m “making” my husband listen!
I have researched and listened to many podcasts. This one by far has the most impactful how to’s that I was looking for. I feel connected every time I listen to them. Many others are wasteful introductions of themselves with very little useful information. Listening to these are inspiring. Thank you!
This series of podcasts have been such a blessing to me as a mom of three teens (ages 17, 15, and 13)!! There are several episodes I have listen to over and over. One thing I am learning is not to hyperfocus on the negative and the “what ifs” but to appreciate all the good I see in my teens, and to have a long-term perspective, which is so important.
Truly a game changer! As a mother of two girls (13 and 10) and a middle school principal, this pod cast has been what I have been looking for to support my girls and teens in general! My husband and I binged listened to every episode in the last three weeks because it was like EVERYTHING Colleen said was relative and relatable. At one point we laughed so hard because we felt like you must have bugged our home! Thank you for such a great parenting tool. I am even considering a book group study of Dial Down the Drama for parents at my school. Just got my copy yesterday! 😊❤️
I am a devoted and blessed mother of a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl - I have been suffering the past few months crying endlessly by myself and having countless sleepless nights searching for advice in a very lonely place until I came across this podcast - I can’t thank you enough for all your great advice thank you so much - at least now I feel like I have somewhere to go to get answers to all these painful questions - thank you again and again and again ♥️
I, myself, have experience working with adolescents in the substance abuse field. However, when it comes to parenting your own adolescent (three teenage girls) it is very hard not to become reactive. I mean, this is my kid...how dare they act like every other teenage kid out there! Lol!! Colleen hits the nail right on the head with her knowledge and advice. She empowers parents, advises them in how to remain objective, clear and consistent when dealing with their teen. She helps ground me, and reaffirms my goal as a parent which is to raise respectful, responsible, and competent individuals. A must listen for any parent in or getting ready to navigate the teenage years!! Thanks Colleen!!
