I just did a leftovers rewatch for the first time since initial viewing. I had honestly forgotten what a master class every single performance was, and I discovered your podcast and you guys treated it with all of the care and respect it deserves. Even to this day I find many people that have never seen the show, and while I’m eager to promote it, it’s hard for me to articulate how vigorously special the show was/is. Especially considering the fact that my initial viewing a couple years ago came on the heels of losing my father. I actually found the rewatch to be even better somehow ( I remember antonio questioning how it would be received on a rewatch). Just want to thank you guys for taking such care and time to address this monumental show. I never watched lost or ever was drawn to it, so I never had any PLSD, I just enjoyed the whole ride so much. Even the beginning, I think even josh can look back at this point and see the magic in those episodes and what they were building to, even if the rest of the series was technically better. Thanks again guys. I also just wanted to say that the “in between” feedback episode for the finale with Rob what’s his name, I appreciated the insight, but at the same time felt almost a physical assault from the weighty, girthy, doubting that rob was throwing my direction, I couldn’t handle it haha. But the last one was exactly what I needed. Thanks again and you’ve gained another fan.
I watched the Leftovers six months after they concluded the podcast but still made sure to listen to these guys. I listen to a lot of post show recaps but this one, along with GoT, is probably my favorite. Great theories, humor, and breakdown of the episodes
I love Josh and Antonio together - smart, articulate and insightful. Not a big fan of Rob's bumbling commentary on the most recent episode however. He comes in like some dark negative energy on what has always been a bright conversation.
Josh and Antonio are my two favorite podcasters -- they provide exceptionally insightful (and entertaining) analysis of this phenomenal show. They also host the BEST Mr. Robot podcast. If only they would podcast about Orphan Black too!!
Highly recommended!
They do a great job of covering each episode of The Leftovers. I enjoy the way they add humor to their recaps.
They are very interested in the show and go into detail to explore your feedback and their opinions.
Thank you guys for doing such a great job. I will miss the show and listening every week. I will be looking forward to any future podcasts you will do.
Again, thanks to everyone involved in bringing this podcast weekly..
I'm as big a fan of this podacast as the podcast is of this show. Did that make sense? Well that's ok, either does the Leftovers.
Just wanna THANK Josh and Antonio for having so much fun making some great content about a great show. Keep it up!
This is a show that requires thoughtful discussions after every episode and Josh and Antonio are the best people for the job. Funny, smart and passionate.
Another excellent PSR podcast for perhaps the best show on television (that no one Seems to watch!) As usual, Josh Wigler is great. And while it does seem like he's getting paid by the word much of the time (constructive criticism?), Antonio Mazzaro brings the wonderful insight and terrible jokes that I've come to love from the post show recaps family!
The Leftovers is a complicated show. I am so glad I found this podcast, because Josh and Antonio are able to break it down and point out things that I may have missed. It has only improved my viewing of this great show. Bravo, well done!
Watch him starring in "My Favorite Year". A great film. I just found you guys and you're great! Too many TV show podcasts become about the hosts. You guys show great focus.
The Leftovers is the TV equivalent to a tough but rewarding read; The mysteries and riddles abound. This podcast is a wonderful companion to the show in that it helps you get through the labyrinth of characters and stories. The hosts leave very few stones unturned and keep the show interactive with listener comments and theories. Be warned, they sometimes go so deep that it's almost in spoiler territory, as some of their predictions come very close to what transpires in subsequent episodes. If you want more understanding of this many layered series, Recaps is the way to go.
I love listening to Antonio and Josh talk about anything, but they do a particularly great job with this. Diving deep into the themes of the show but also touching on the levity that exists as well. My viewing experience is enhanced by these guys.
It's rare that I look for new podcasts for my TV shows, but The Leftovers demands a whole week's worth of discussion and homework to fully appreciate. I went looking for new discussion on the show and found this podcast. Top notch. Good discussion, good jokes, professional production. Recommend.
If you are fan of The Leftovers, I promise you there isn't a better podcast. It's a smart in depth conversation about a very complex show, that makes you think. They will help you understand some of the not so obvious stuff about show and make you laugh while doing it.
First I have to thank this team for introducing me to my favorite show right now. I first heard of The Leftovers while listening to the Post Show Recap podcast for The Walking Dead (also w/ Josh Wigler) around the time you all did your special Spoiler-free "Why you should be watching the Leftovers" episode in season 2.
I soon binged and wasn't sold on the Leftovers until late in season 1, but I stuck through those early episodes to discover what I think is one of the best tv dramas in a long time. And season 2 knocked it out the park and just killed it like an International Assassin.
But back to this podcast: Hands down this is the best Leftovers recap podcast I've heard. The commentary you give is witty, upbeat and doesn't take itself too seriously while still bringing this show's layered and profound storytelling the respect and deep pondering it deserves.
Only two suggestions:
1) How about a brief "theories" segment of the podcast where you mention theories that fans have about the show. Not to totally dissect such theories as sometimes people can let their speculation run wild, but just to mention the possibilities behind the show's storylines. I'm writing this after the season 3 premiere and now's a good time to start putting together our theories and predictions about the show - which I'm sure will likely be proven wrong just like the 1844 "end of the world" woman.
2) After the season 3 premiere, the Twitter sphere had me figuratively ROTFL with all the comments and quips under the #TheLeftovers hashtag. What about highlighting some of the really witty and poignant tweets during your show?
My two cents. Keep up the good work. Maybe after the series is over, you can figure a way to keep this podcast going. I'd still probably listen if you're still talking about the Leftovers "posthumously."
The end is near. Or is it...
Antonio and Josh are top tier humans and they are not lenses. I really want to make more allusions but The Leftovers took a year and a half off and I forget them. Anyway listen to this podcast and Antonio and Josh will tell you what's going on here (well, better than anyone else at least).
I am a huge fan of Mr. Robot and your podcast and took up your suggestion that Mr. Robot fans (like myself) might like this show.
Very riveting show and great to hear you both on another TV show with a lot of depth.
Love this podcast (also your Mr. Robot podcasts were epic).
Incredibly insightful and really enhances the overall Leftovers experience for me. Antonio makes me feel dumb at first and then smarter for hearing his thoughts :) More than for any other show, this is must listen podcasting.
I binge watched The Leftovers over the last week and I would have been lost without this podcast. Josh & Antonio are phenomenal! They are very smart and informative with NO SPOILERS. Awesome job guys. Rob knows how to choose podcasters, that’s for sure. I’d like Rob to be on it too, but I’m sure it must be impossible to podcast 40 shows. Keep up the good work guys! A+++
Thoughtful, intelligent analysis and commentary. Great rapport! One of my favorite Leftovers podcast and favorite Game of Thrones podcasters.
Thank you gentlemen!
This is, hands down, the best post-show THE LEFTOVERS analysis around. If you aren't listening to this, or subscribed, or rating and reviewing it on iTunes, it is time to correct that.
This won't be a very helpful review, just want to say I love this podcast and find the insights and critical analysis to be awesome and entertaining. This is a must-listen for me after every episode. Thanks, podcasters!
I can’t get enough of the Leftovers and listen to many podcasts. Josh and Antonio’s recap is the best. The are very insightful and intelligent in their discussion. Thank you for such a entertaining podcast. It’s extra enjoyable listening to a discussion by people who appreciate a show as much as I appreciate it.
Enjoying the Leftovers is twofold for me. First step: watch the show. Second step: listen to this podcast. Hearing the thoughts and theories so respectfully and curiously laid out makes this show even better. Thank you.
Please don't quit doing recaps. I listen to all of your recaps and I think this show will be a decent hit next year once it moves into a 9pm timeslot. Also the Lost podcast is amazing. Thanks guys.
I listened to their House of Cards post show recaps and found them to be very additive to watching the series and started listening to this one too. Really great podcast!!!
