A Bar Above Podcast

Reviews For A Bar Above Podcast

First and foremost, I would like to say thank you for helping me become the bartender I am today. The podcast you have created gives a mix of all levels of the industry from home, management and owner/entrepreneur. Every episode has a way to give different perspectives into the business with first hand experiences and numerous guests that help enforce upcoming knowledge in the ever growing bartender world even for a patron. This podcast is quite simply, a top shelf spirit.
This show is such a fun listen for cocktail lovers. Entertaining, inspiring, and informative!
Just what I was looking to add to my educational pool of podcasts! As a flower and herb farmer, I’m exploring not only crops to add to sell but value added options for my farm. The guests and topics are spot on week after week to keep new ideas churning for me!
I’ve been listening for about a year. I have gone back and listened to every episode. It was exactly what I needed to start educating myself. I really enjoy what you guys do. Keep up the great work. Enormous resource for the bar community. I encourage my staff not only to listen but to take the mixology certification course. It a great approach to learning how to create drinks
Chris and Julia have a plethora of knowledge which they readily share in an easy to listen to podcast. Their show is concise and to the point. Each episode is filled with great information which any bartender can use to improve their performance and ultimately their tips. They respond in a timely fashion to questions. Overall this is a fantastic podcast and one you’ll listen to regularly. Cheers!
Bar/FOH Manager at a small 52 seat restaurant in Greensboro, NC. Started “binge listening” to this podcast in December of 2017 and am finally caught up to the most recent episode with Jennifer Colliau and this podcast, especially the most recent episode which definitely hit the spot as a Beverage and FOH Manager trying to make their life more sustainable and more of a “work smarter” mentality, has been truly the most insightful material I have using lately to get more knowledgeable behind the bar as well as a FOH Manager. I recommend it to all of my FOH staff now as well as any other bartenders, etc I meet. A wonderful resource and a treat to listen to each week. Keep it guys!

Love this podcast! Fantastic resource for everyone in the liquor “biz”. Episodes contain USEFUL information for persons just getting started in the biz, professional career bartenders and bar/restaurant managers. Most episodes are 30min or less and the hosts are very entertaining
After 30 years in R&D Engineering, I could not stand the lack of sunshine and social interaction. Your posdcast gave me the idea of becoming a Bartender, A social, fun and above all else entertaining way to earn a living. Thank you so much for your great insight, wise recomendations and warnings about the stupid stuff that can kill your career. This is not always easy info to get in what I have found to be a rather compeditive ocupation. Awesome job, I give you 5 and a big Thumbs up!
Best Mixology Information Out a There The Tunstalls have the greatest variety of Mixology and hospitality information available on the web. Hands down! You can learn about anything from these two. You can test the waters and be very general and cursory, or you can nerd out as hard as you want. They have content for everyone of any level of interest in cocktails and hospitality. Long time fan!
I'm a big fan of all things cocktail-related so this podcast is right up my alley! The hosts are engaging, have great chemistry, and are highly knowledgeable without sounding pretentious. I'm a new subscriber and currently binge listening. Would Recommend.
Great info on a wide variety of topics presented by a charming couple.
Love this podcast! The hosts are great and really know their stuff!
I love hearing about your knowledge of the industry, and Julia giving her two cents or stopping the show to ask questions that the lay-people might not know. Chris has an incredible wealth of knowledge for aspiring bartenders. And Julia pretends to not know things, but should give herself some more credit because she asks knowledgeable questions and adds a ton to this podcast. Great job again!
This podcast is incredible. It is highly professional and yet very accessible for gals and guys from other industries. Only drawback is that I feel like having a cocktail after every episode! :) Guys keep it up, you are my insite news to craft cocktails and the world of booze. THANKS
The only time I have written a review was to have an opportunity to get some bourbon schwag. So, this is my first genuine review. Cheers to Chris & Julia for not only an entertaining, but educational podcast. I especially appreciate the written highlights you offer on your website leading me to wonderful avenues of more information. As the title stated, I have been binge listening (going on 50 episodes in three consecutive days), which I would compare to my binge watching of Boardwalk Empire! Proost! Salut! Skål! Kippis! Cheers! ~Adam
Great banter and perspective on home mixology
I can go on my phone and find information that is making me a lot of money for free! This podcast, along with a couple others, have taught me so much in the last few months. I've gone from never bartending to crafting my own cocktail menu in 6 months. I have a ton to learn but following these guys tips have made me look like a pro. I will be signing up for the craft cocktail course. Tons of info here. Support these awesome bartenders!
I started making cocktails at home about a year ago as a hobby and have been looking for a way to get inspiration and learn more. I've been looking forward to my commute since I discovered this podcast. This couple does a great job of mixing up the content and keeping each podcast to an engaging length- drink ideas, interviews, history lessons, professional bar tending, listener questions. Keep up the great work! I'm looking forward to making a cantaloupe margarita with a prosciutto salt rim.
Chris and Julia do a great job of delivering solid and varied content about mixology and the bar industry on a regular basis. The content's always fresh and presented well.
Though I think there is useful information sprinkled in these podcast I often wish they would get to the point. They spend too much time beating around the bush and laughing insincerely. You can hear them grinning while they talk. There's too much of a morning radio talk show vibe for my taste. That being said they do know what they’re talking about. They are certainly knowledgeable on booze and cocktails.
I absolutely love this podcast! They have great ideas and advice, and they are SO funny! Thanks for an accessible podcast for the rest of us! My mom even likes the podcasts, especially the "words to know" episode after ordering a "dry" martini thinking that meant "no ice." You offered some great advice to remedy that!
A really great podcast! Informative, entertaining, fast paced, and not too long. Thanks guys!
I was actively seeking out a way to learn more about cocktails and stumbled across this podcast. It is exactly what I was looking for. These two do a great job speaking to people of all skill and knowledge levels, touching on topics that are both familiar and new. I can truly say that I have learned a great deal since listening and have seen an improvement in my 'home bartending' abilities. Keep those episodes comin'!
I highly advise you listen to this podcast if you’re the “home nerd cocktail enthusiast”, or a bartender that is looking to break into mixology! These two run a great podcast, are very professional, and are extremely knowledgeable. I only discovered this podcast two days ago, and have binged listened and am now on episode 35! It sounds like a lot, but most of the episodes are under 10mins. Which brings me to my only criticism if you can even call it that…. sometimes I wish Chris went into a little more detail, and their episodes were a bit longer because I love listening and always want to know more! This is a great fun podcast! I get jealous every time they talk about Tales of the Cocktail!! Keep up the good work you two!!
I'm a bartender, and I always strive to be better. I read all I can, and constantly pay attention to bartenders around me to learn everything I can! So on a 30 hour drive I found this podcast, and couldn't be happier. It's so well put together, educational, entertaining, and funny. They really motivate me to want to try new things and create my own cocktails. Not only to show off to my friends, but also my guests, which makes me more $$ Awesome work on the podcast guys! Please keep it up!
I was skeptical about listening to a mixology podcast, but Chris really knows his stuff, and he presents it well. Happy to add this to my podcast feed.
As a Bar Back, The best thing I can say about this podcast is that it is not a waste of time. Useful info and easy to listen to.
Love these two! Great in-depth analysis of all things cocktail!
Educational and entertaining. Great cocktail advice.
This is a great show that describes how to make and enjoy a good cocktail. The hosts are knowledgeable and pleasant. I would like to hear more details about cocktails and their history and variations. The length of the show is just right: not too long or too short. Plus the host likes manhattans with burgers as do I, so I'll keep listening.
Love their chemistry and what their style on this podcast! They seem very passionate about what they do and it shows! Love this duo!
These two are awesome. Chris is a consummate professional; his knowledge of both the business and craft of spirits is expansive. Julia facilitates the conversations so well, and their rapport is entertaining and sweet! Keep an eye on these two.
Such a great and informative podcast for the cocktail community.. I myself bartend but at a night club who is looking to transition to more of the craft cocktail "speakeasy" bar scene. Learning so much from Chris and Julia!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and keep up the great work!
I was looking for a podcast like that for so long. The hosts are funny explain everything in great detail without being boring and their voices are perfect for podcast; clean crisp and mellow. Keep them coming.
