Do yourself a favor and just listen to this radio drama. The sound production values are as high as they get and it’s filled with great very expressive voice actors.
This phenomenal show will hook you from the start and draw you into the world of England in the early 20th century during the First World War. The characters are engaging and their stories are absorbing; the production values couldn't be better. I can't recommend this show highly enough!
After two years of listening you guys have continued to impress me with a great historical podcast that keeps me eager for more. I am in America and I listen while on my commute to work. I love the history and the drama of your work. Well written and continues to stay on track while offering continous reasons to listen. Great job all. You are all fantastic and I love what you have done to portray an imperative point of history that my country has very little recollection of. Thank you for all of your hard work.
I love radio drama and have listened to hundreds of shows. Home Front is the best show ever! Excellent acting, great writing and perfect sound effects make it perfect!! Thank you BBC Radio 4!!
This podcast is so very well done, I can’t wait to get in the car and find out what else is going on! The writing is very good, the character development is amazing, The sound effects and voice acting is fabulous.
I encourage others who wish to do serial fiction podcasts to use this as the gold standard, and I look forward to more from BBC Radio 4!
This drama is excellent in every way - story, acting and historical background. But the podcast no longer functions and episodes can't be downloaded. Stream it through your browser app instead.
Extremely disappointed that this is no longer available as a podcast in the US. The BBC appears to have decided that nobody outside the UK should be able to download this.
Love the show, but since episodes resumed in September it won't download for me anymore. It gives a "403 notukerror" error.
I hope this is a technical mistake and not a policy decision; the BBC dramas are an excellent outreach to the world and a promotion of the high quality of culture in Britain.
Unable to download the latest season because the file type is not downloadable. The're just streaming files now. How does that help me get through my workday if I can't download these wonderful stories to my ipod and block out my annoying coworkers? Make these audio files again so I can listen!
Any fan of historical fiction will love this podcast. The characters are engaging, the plot is interesting and acting is top notch. They didn't release any new episodes for a couple of months this summer and I really missed it. Now I understand why people in the pre-television era crowded around their radios for a favorite show.
