Meet Me at Riis

Riis Beach in New York has been a pivotal site of queer liberation for the past 80 years, and this history is deeply connected to an abandoned, graffiti covered building facing this part of the NYC shoreline. That building — Neponsit Hospital — was demolished in 2023, and it brings up critical questions about the future of the beach.
