The Science of Grief – Ep. 10: Feeling Disconnected and Lonely in a Room Full of People

In this episode, I explore feeling disconnected from others and ourselves, and feeling most lonely in rooms full of people. In meetings, at the supermarket, at a festival... but also more surprisingly when surrounded by those we love dearly and whose presence we cherish.I share my own experience of attending family gatherings after losing both of my brothers and my parents. These were moments where I genuinely wanted to be present and grateful for the people around me. Yet being surrounded by loved ones often made the absence of those who should have been there feel even more noticeable.Because grief changes the social landscape of our lives. The people we have lost are no longer physically present, but our brain still expects them to be.If you've ever wondered why you can feel lonely in a crowd, this episode is for you.Connect with me:Website: sylviawolfer.comSign up to my NewsletterInstagram: @sylvia_wolfer_grief_supportLinkedin: linkedin.com/in/sylviawolfer/Book a 1:1 Grief Support Session
